Tories left a little Green about gills

-

When you look at Theresa May’s Cabinet, the old rhyme 10 Green Bottles springs to mind. Damian Green has at last been sacked, making it a hat-trick of Tory ministers ousted in double-quick time.

To think May is guiding us through Brexit is frightening when you consider her grave errors of judgement. Alas, she is still holding the reins, but her chariot is completely out of control.

Britain is near crisis point with so much uncertainty over Brexit and requires strong leadership. May is becoming weaker by the day. Bill Cook, Teignmouth, Devon # I see Mrs May is now being lauded by some Tory MPs for her leadership qualities after forcing First Secretary of State Damian Green to quit following computer porn allegations, despite him being a good ally to her. While I don’t doubt this was the right thing to do under the circumstances, I suspect her main motivation is likely to have been a desire to keep her own job rather than the sudden effect of some leadership qualities she’d previously been lacking. Craig Harrison, Morpeth Northumberland # It’s no surprise that Damian Green has lied – after all, it’s the same old story with this Government. Doctors tell us the NHS is underfunded, the Tories tell us they have put in the most money. Teachers warn that children are starved, the Government tells us it isn’t. The Tories crowed they have plans for a successful Brexit, then admit impact studies have not been read.

They have destroyed this country. God save us all from this party of Pinocchios. Mary Pester, Saltash, Cornwall # So the year ends with a political sacking which is fully deserved. But Damian Green didn’t lie, he “misled”, according to the Tories’ terminology.

I wonder how anyone could show even the slightest praise for these people in our Government.

I’m afraid I cannot wish them a Merry Christmas. R Kimble, Leeds # Brexit Secretary David Davis said he would quit if Damian Green was forced out – so why is he still in his post? Lack of integrity? Possibly. Not courageous enough? Definitely.

Either way, Davis has shown a serious lack of moral fibre for his backing of Green and should be removed from the dysfunctional Brexit team, kicking and screaming if necessary. Alan Baber, Weston-super-Mare North Somerset # We need a fresh approach to politics, one that restores those fundamentals like honesty and integrity, charity and humanity. But that would be impossible with the deceitful and uncharitable Tory Party in charge. We need a Labour government – and not just for Christmas. Michael Elias Carmarthen, Carms # Thank goodness the dishonest ministers have now left the Government, leaving just those with integrity, such as Davis, Johnson, Fox and Gove. The country really is in a mess and, to cap it all, Brexit was founded on a pack of lies.
