GEORGE Michael’s family have asked fans to raise a toast to the singer after the anniversary of his death.

In a touching tribute on George’s website, a year after he died on Christmas Day, aged 53, they posted a 1967 picture of him enjoying the snow with best pal David Austin.

The message, referring to George by his nickname, read: “Yog, who loved Christmas, and always hoped it would snow… would want each of you that admired and loved him to take a moment, raise a glass, enjoy his music and think of him fondly.

“Christmas is not always easy, life isn’t perfect and families are complicated…

“Yog shared his music with all of us, and many of you connected deeply with his words, yet in life many hold their own important words and feelings inside, as so often they are the hardest to say out loud. So if you can, in his memory this year, take a moment and a deep breath and say those ‘I Love Yous’ out loud.

“This Christmas will be hard without him, but we know that we are not alone in our mourning the anniversary of his loss.” The message came as fans flocked to George’s home in Highgate, North London, to leave flowers and tributes.

One read: “You have been loved.” Others were placed at the house in Goring-onThames, Oxfordshire, where the former Wham! star was found dead by boyfriend Fadi Fawaz, 44. The singer died from heart disease and fat on his liver.
