Brit scientists making blood

A BRITISH life science company is developing artificial human blood.

It can carry oxygen around the body and can be added to a patient’s blood during transfusions.

SpheriTech, in Runcorn, Cheshire, says SpheriSome Hb could revolutionise trauma patients’ care.

Boss Dr Don Wellings said: “It has the ability to be excreted and not accumulate in various tissues. It is non-toxic, non-immunogenic, non-antigenic and non-carcinogenic.”
