GOOD VIBE FOR SMITH OVER STAR

DEAN SMITH says Brentford still hope to hang on to in-form Lasse Vibe.

The Denmark striker (below) made it six goals in his last five Championship matches with the first in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

But with only six months of his deal left at Griffin Park, Vibe can sign a pre-contract with another club and leave on a free in June.

Vibe, 30, must also weigh up which path offers him the best chance of making Denmark’s squad for the World Cup in Russia.

The majority of Vibe’s 11 caps came in 2014, when he was only pipped to the Danish player of the year award by Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen.

Bees boss Smith said: “Are we trying to keep Lasse Vibe? Yes, we’d like to. Our directors of football and his representatives will be speaking and we’ll see how that goes.”
