Mum who scoffed THREE tins of Roses in one go sheds 11st after shock of tum bursting her jeans

AN overweight mum who gorged on three tubs of Cadbury’s Roses in a single day lost 11 stone thanks to a new year diet.

Rachelle Thompson was spurred into action after her belly popped out of her size 28 jeans. She weighed in at 25 stone.

The 48-year-old had spent years bingeing on takeaways, sugary treats and booze. But her lowest point came with the Roses, with each 660g tub containing 3,201 calories and 152g of fat.

Rachelle said: “In the 10 days up to Christmas 2016, I sat on my backside and just ate and ate. I always go to my mum and dad’s for Christmas and they do a huge roast.

“In one sitting I scoffed three boxes of Roses chocolates washed down with a bottle of wine, then got stuck into the mince pies and peanuts the following day.

“I felt sick but I didn’t care, it was like I kept on eating to punish myself for overeating. On New Year’s Day, after returning home from my parents, my size 28 jeans popped open as I sat down on the sofa. I was mortified. I knew I was big but I had been in complete denial. “I decided there and then the booze and junk food binges had to end. “If it wasn’t for the extreme binge I’d put myself through over Christmas, I would never have faced the music. As cliched as it sounds, my jeans popping open really was the eye-opener for me.” Mum-of-two Rachelle told how she had started to put on weight after her second son, now 15, was born. But after her New Year’s Day shock, she vowed to shift it. The bookies worker, from Bangor, North Wales, joined a slimming group where she was theheaviest member. She worked out five nights a week and lost two stone in her first month. A year after she began her diet, she now fits size 12-14 clothes. Rachelle said: “If you join a slimming club in January there are likely to be dozens of people in the same situation. It is a great time to start again.”
