Pub defends offer of 9am cheap pints

Punters can buy pints at £1.55 from 9am, rising every hour in the morning.
Owner Walter Cook said the Garrick Hotel and Bar in Stockton-on-Tees was targeting older “early bird” clientele who had a few drinks “while their wife does the shopping”.
But Balance North East said: “This is just another example of encouraging people to drink to excess.”
