Farage: EU has ‘ignored’ immigration
NIGEL Farage said last night that EU leaders don’t understand immigration fuelled the Brexit vote.
After meeting chief Brussels negotiator Michel Barnier, the former UKIP leader said a lack of focus on border controls would “deeply worry” Brexiteers.
He crowd-sourced a string of questions for Mr Barnier, with immigration at the top of the list.
Speaking later Mr Farage said: “What he really didn’t understand was that open door immigration within the European Union had been a key driver of all this.
“The most disappointing thing is so far immigration hasn’t been discussed.”
Meanwhile, Mr Barnier resisted demands from British firms for medicines and aviation to remain under EU oversight.
