EDDIE’S VOTE TO JOIN MOMENTUM

- BY JOHN CROSS

EDDIE HOWE hailed Bournemouth’s neversay-die spirit – but warned the biggest danger is thinking they are safe.

Boss Howe’s battlers came from behind with a brilliant fightback, goals from Jordon Ibe and Callum Wilson steering them into 13th place.

Howe (above) said: “We had to do it again, do it the hard way.

“It’s never easy against any team in the Premier League to come back when you are in a losing position, let alone the top clubs, so again that’s a great sign.

“That’s the danger, isn’t it? One win and everything looks different and people around you can relax.

“It’s very important we keep in this moment, keep the momentum we’ve built if we can. And continue to produce the performances we have of late. The last five or six have been very good. I’ve been pleased with the response from the players, they’ve responded to a difficult moment very well.”

Howe claimed the win stemmed from his Cherries being in prime condition and also praised Ibe.

He added: “Our fitness levels are really good. I think statistics show we are one of the fittest teams in the Premier League.

“We were very energetic and the substitutes made an impact too. The changes seemed to make us a bit more effective in an attacking sense. It was great to see the strength of the squad showing through.

“I’m really pleased for Jordon. He’s been knocking on the door recently, his numbers are very good this year and I’m really pleased that first goal is out of the way for him now and hopefully it can be the first of many.

“I just think it is another thing he can take confidence from.

“I genuinely believe he can have a major impact at this level. I think he has with his general performances recently but, of course, you need that feeling that only scoring can give you.

“It’s a unique feeling and I’m so pleased he’s got that today.”
