As the global elite gather at Davos, it’s a good time to reflect on the gap between the super rich and the rest of the world. It widened last year, according to Oxfam’s annual study. Around 82% of money generated in 2017 went to the richest 1% of the global population, while the poorest half saw no increase. The richest 1% now have as much as the rest of the 99%. And 42 people now have as much wealth as the poorest 50% worldwide.
