Boris rides NHS Brexit bus again

- Edited by FIONA PARKER

TO think Boris Johnson has not been sacked over his many lies only goes to show how weak Theresa May is. He arrogantly endorsed the £350million per week to our crippled NHS for the Leave campaign, thus duping many into voting for Brexit.

Now he’s announced, prior to a Cabinet meeting, that the NHS should receive £100m per week, undermining the Chancellor as well as the Prime Minister.

Still, it’s not even a third of what you said originally though, Boris. Our bumbling Foreign Secretary is a law unto himself, continually seeking headlines such as his dream to build the Garden Bridge across the Thames. He is also harping on about a bridge across the Channel, the busiest shipping lane in the world. What madness.

Is anyone left under any illusion about the overwhelming vanity and ambition of Boris Johnson? All this man cares about is becoming Prime Minister – he doesn’t care what he has to promise or who he has to tread on to get there. And the sad thing is, we have a lame duck in No 10 who is going to find out at our expense that she should have sacked him after the last election. Start packing now Mrs May, as Boris is waiting to carry your bags out.

With his pivotal role in the Leave campaign, Boris Johnson has done more than anyone in causing the NHS to be starved of finance. His cynical demand that the Treasury spend £100m on the NHS, based solely on self-promotion, is shameful.

Should we ask him to tour NHS hospital corridors to tell patients waiting on trolleys to be admitted to A&E that they should be thinking of the return of a mythical national sovereignty, rather than their own pain and suffering?

What a bunch of idiots we have running this country. Boris Johnson asks for £100m a week for the NHS and is slapped down by Philip Hammond and Theresa May. I believe we should be financially better off when we leave the EU, but with the Tories’ continual bungling, I doubt it will happen – they will always find an excuse to starve our NHS of cash.

I am so angry to hear about the PM rebuking Mr Johnson for speaking out on what he observed at a London hospital recently. It is comforting to know there is at least one person in the Cabinet who is observing the reallife pressures of the health service and its effect on patients.

How do Mrs May, Mr Hunt and Mr Hammond sleep knowing their ideological endeavours to undo the health service is not in the interests of the nation? Shame on them, I won’t vote Conservative again.

Philip Hutchings, Devizes, Wilts

How could anyone think Boris Johnson is sincere in his call for extra funds for the NHS? All this scheming politician is interested in is his own ambition for the top job. But his cynical ploy has backfired. Theresa May should sack him, but she won’t – she’s too weak.
