DJANGO DJANGO
Eclectic, hyperactive and full of zany departures and new arrivals – literally here with guest slots from Jan Hammer and members of Slow Club and Metronomy – Django Django are an undoubtedly talented bunch. But this third album is weirdly overdone, despite marking a back to basics recording approach after its sumptuous predecessor, Born Under Saturn. Tic Tac Toe is mere fluff, bitty and piecemeal, while maybe the group’s songwriting democracy explains the tentative and stilted nature of Sundials.
