MAXI WANTS SHOOT OUT WITH MARTIAL

Sky Blues’ Biamou hopes for crack at Reds pal Anthony

- BY ALEX SMITH

MK DONS 0 COVENTRY 1 Biamou 64 MAXIME BIAMOU has history in the FA Cup – and wants to make more against his pal Anthony Martial.

The Coventry target man was with Sutton United last season when the National League club reached the fifth round after upsets against Cheltenham, AFC Wimbledon and Leeds.

Their run was finally halted by Arsenal.

Now the Frenchman hopes to take on Manchester United and get one over on Martial, who he grew up close to on the outskirts of Paris.

“Last season I played against Arsenal and Leeds,” Biamou said. “They’re very good teams so I hope to play against another very good team – I would like it to be Manchester United because I know Anthony Martial.

“His brother is my best friend, so sometimes I go to Old Trafford to watch.

“I saw him a couple of weeks ago when he played against Stoke. I said to him, ‘Maybe in the next round I will play against you’. “He was happy for that.” Biamou poked in the only goal as the 1987 winners, now plying their trade in the fourth tier under Mark Robins (left), edged past MK Dons.

The 27-yearold had an offnight against the Gunners and aims to put that right should tonight’s draw pair them with top-flight opponents again. “I wasn’t very good against Arsenal so it isn’t a good memory,” said Biamou. “I was injured so it was very difficult for me. “You play against some very strong players so you have to be more focused and concentrate the whole game. “When you play a big team like that you sometimes have to stay deep to defend all the game. If you get one chance you have to take it. It’s very difficult.” Biamou (right) is also keen to grab more mementos for his family having pinching Per Mertesacker’s Gunners shirt at Gander Green Lane. “I gave the shirts I wore against Arsenal and Leeds to my father,” he said. “I don’t see my family regularly so when I go back to France if I can, I give them shirts. “I got Mertesacker’s from the Arsenal game. He won the World Cup and European Cup so it was a big name!” Dons have won only twice in 10 games and are in the League One drop zone, but midfielder Ed Upson believes new boss Dan Micciche (left) will turn things around. He said: “The players have had a boost with a new manager coming in. On paper we’ve a team which should be way up the league. “Hopefully with the new management team it will click.”
