Corrie star’s daughter killed by ecstasy & ketamine overdose
Louella found in woods on festival site
CORONATION Street actor John Michie’s daughter died after an overdose of ecstasy and ketamine at a music festival, an inquest heard.
Model Louella Michie, 25, vanished at Camp Bestival at Lulworth Castle, Dorset, in September last year. Her body was found in a secluded wooded area on the site after a police search.
A postmortem proved inconclusive but further toxicology tests showed she died from an overdose of MDMA and party drug ketamine.
The hearing in Bournemouth was told she would have endured a period of agitation after taking the drugs, before her airways became blocked.
As the inquest opened, coroner’s officer Nikki Muller said: “Police were called to the site and she [Miss Michie] was taken to a nearby hospital. Her father identified her the next day. A postmortem was conducted by Dr [Russell Delaney] who was initially unable to give a preliminary cause of death. Her body was released for the purposes of her funeral but he kept hold of some tissues.” Miss Muller said Dr Delaney later came back with a conclusion that Miss Michie died of sudden unexpected death from a ketamine and MDMA overdose which “caused a long period of agitation, restraint and blocked airways”. Dorset coroner Rachael Griffin adjourned the inquest to June 25. During the festival, police issued alerts about ecstasy pills with a Rolex logo which contained an unknown substance and were known to be circulating. Miss Michie, whose father has also appeared in Holby City, was at the festival with musician boyfriend Ceon Broughton, 29. He was held after her death on suspicion of murder and supplying a Class A drug and later released on bail. Last week, he was charged with manslaughter by negligence over her death. Mr Broughton, of Enfield, North London, faces Poole magistrates on March 23.
