Harry & fiancee meet ex-soldiers
CONSENT Her Majesty THE Queen has given her official consent to Prince Harry marrying Meghan Markle.
The monarch has to approve any wedding of the first six people in line to the throne and Harry, 33, – real name Henry – is fifth.
Consent to his union with Meghan – real first name Rachel – was given at a Privy Council meeting with a formal declaration.
It read: “I declare My Consent to a Contract of Matrimony between My Most Dearly Beloved
I have seen those I served with suffer and struggle to seek help
PRINCE HARRY ON PLIGHT OF VETERANS Grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and Rachel Meghan Markle, which Consent I am causing to be signified under the Great Seal and to be entered in the Books of the Privy Council.”
Harry has been keen to make sure Meghan, 36, spends as much time as possible with his grandmother, whose opinion he greatly values.
The Queen first met his future fiancee for tea in October. There Meghan got another an important endorsement – from the royal corgis. Harry said: “I’ve spent the last 33 years being barked at — this one walks in, absolutely nothing.” Meghan added: “Just laying on my feet during tea. It was very sweet.”
Meghan was the first royal fiancee to be invited to Sandringham for Christmas and carried out her first official engagement with the Queen earlier this week, attending the Commonwealth service at Westminster Abbey.
