Pep Kopped worst draw

-

I MAKE Manchester City favourites to beat Liverpool in the quarter-final of the Champions League. In fact, I still fancy City to go on and win it.

But I suspect if there was one team Pep Guardiola was hoping to avoid it would have been Liverpool.

In the Premier League this season, Liverpool were the better side at the Etihad until Sadio Mane was harshly sent off (above) and City then cruised to an easy 5-0 win.

At Anfield – where City have not won for 15 years – the Merseysiders went for the jugular and became the only side to score four times past Guardiola’s men this season.

If it goes to form, we will have Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and City in the last four. The cream is definitely rising to the top.

I BELIEVE Danny Welbeck dived to win a penalty for Arsenal in the Europa League on Thursday night.

There may well have been slight contact from AC Milan defender Ricardo Rodriguez, but it looked as if Welbeck took an extra stride before going down as an afterthought.

The penalty incident came when the Gunners were trailing 1-0 on the night, and it changed the whole dynamic of the tie.

If he had done it in a Premier League game, he would be looking at a two-match ban.

THERE is no disgrace in Chelsea being knocked out of Europe by Barcelona. Over the two legs, they had a go and the 4-1 aggregate scoreline was harsh.

When manager Antonio Conte said Chelsea would need to play a “perfect” game to reach the last eight, he could not have legislated for Thibaut Courtois being nutmegged twice on the same night by Lionel Messi.

Willian (right) was outstanding in both games and on current form I think he’s more valuable to Chelsea than Eden Hazard.

If I had to choose between Willian or Hazard this summer, I’d keep the Brazilian and cash in on the Belgian.
