Chilli Wonka...
MORRISONS has added imperfect chillies to wonky produce it stocks.
It is part of a plan for the chain to sell 33 types of fruit and veg that look odd, increasing its range by 50%.
The chillies have defects such as missing stalks, imperfect colours or are small. While tasting the same, they are 39% cheaper than standard ones. Other less-than-perfect produce to be added include kiwis and avocados.
Drew Kirk, fruit and veg director at Morrisons, said: “Customers want to be given every opportunity to reduce food waste. So we’re providing a much bigger choice of wonky or blemished products.”
