Relight my fire... it’s freezing cold in here

Gary’s cryotherapy for tour boost

I do ice baths every week – but this cryo chamber was horrific GARY BARLOW ON HIS CRYOTHERAPY SESSION

SINGER Gary Barlow really is serious about chilling out ahead of his shows.

The Take That star, 47, reckons it will put him in top form for his solo tour.

But it is nothing to do with putting his feet up, instead he has been exposing his body to temperatures of up to -200C with cryotherapy.

The extreme cold chambers spark muscle regeneration and stimulate the immune system, helping him stay fit for the gruelling set of dates ahead. And with sporting icons such as Cristiano Ronaldo swearing by it, health-conscious Gary decided to take the plunge. He said: “Someone said to me, it was probably my son, that Ronaldo never goes on the pitch unless he’s had a cryo. “The problem is I am so gullible, I believe all this. So the next minute I thought, ‘I’m going to have a bit of that’. It was horrible. I am used to ice baths – I do those every week. They do make me feel really good as it gets the blood rushing. But this cryo chamber was horrific.”

Cryotherapy was developed in the 1970s and Real Madrid footie ace Ronaldo, 33, has a £36,000 chamber at home.

Gary took his turn ahead of his first Edinburgh date last night but seemed a little cool on the experience. He said: “It definitely wakes you up. We used to take ice baths on tour and whenever we did them, no one ever got injuries. So there is something in the cold thing but it’s not pleasant for the three minutes you’re in it.” Last night’s sell-out show at the city’s Playhouse was part of a 34-date UK tour. And Gary, who thrilled the crowd with both new and old hits, wants to stay as well as possible for all the travelling. “The last thing you want is cancelling shows because you are ill,” he said. But there must be easier ways to get your mojo Back Thaw Good…
