Klopp kids ready to battle City

by outplaying them in the Champions League quarter-final.

“Of course I don’t fear the challenge,” said Anfield chief Klopp. “All the big six pretty much delivered this year, but City delivered the best.

“Will they be able to dominate again? We will see. They don’t have a limit on spending and I’m pretty sure they will be strong again.

“The job they have done in the last few years is outstanding. They brought together a team at a fantastic age – there is still a lot to come,” he added.

“Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus are all very young, Kevin De Bruyne is in his mid-20s, and they will not stop refreshing the squad, either, that’s clear.”

Yet Liverpool actually have an even younger line-up, with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold reducing the average age of Klopp’s first-choice team – when veteran James Milner is rested – to just 24 and a half. That suggests there will be plenty more scope for development to come, which is frightening for a team that stands on the verge of a Champions League final.

“Whatever City do it will be possible to beat them,” said Klopp.

“We know that’s football... it is wonderful, it is difficult – but winning is still possible.

“It’s not important how good City will be, it’s about how we can get all the points we missed out on. That’s the job to do.

“They are young, but our age group is good as well.

“The best years are coming. That’s why we try to carry on building. It all depends on us.”
