CAH: I’M REVVED UP AGAIN

- BY ADRIAN KAJUMBA

GARY CAHILL insists he has nothing to prove as he bids to end the season by winning the FA Cup then an England recall ahead of the World Cup.

The Blues skipper lost his starting place in Antonio Conte’s team and Gareth Southgate’s England squad last month.

But he has made a timely return to action to help Chelsea reach next month’s FA Cup final against Manchester United and keep their hopes of a top-four finish alive.

The 32-year-old defender has won every major club honour in six years at Stamford Bridge.

And he said: “Football is a bit of a roller-coaster.

“It is not always going to go amazingly well but for the majority of my career I have played 30-plus league games every season.

“You don’t just disappear and turn into a bad player overnight. If you ride it out, you come back to the form you should be at.

“I am fit and ready to go and don’t really feel like I need to prove anything.

“I have proved myself playing in the Champions League, the Premier League and for England.

“So it is just a matter of me enjoying what I am doing and getting back to the level that I expect from myself.

“I am my own worst critic. If I am happy with my level, then that’s good enough for me because I am where I should be.”
