cocaine in February. Mum Louise, 28, was with them and saw the crash near their home in Coventry.

Reece read out a statement on her behalf as Brown was jailed for nine years at Warwick crown court last month. It said: “My family is broken, my heart is broken and time will never heal this.”

He and Louise said: “We are living a life sentence knowing we will never see our boys grown up.”

Reece’s death was not being treated as suspicious, police said. Serial crook Brown, who had never passed his test, was driving at 60mph in a 30mph zone just six days after being released from jail.

He sped off after the crash but the car broke down. Passenger Gwendoline Harrison, 41, swung a bag of beer cans at onlookers who tried to restrain them. Police found them hiding behind a shed.

The Attorney General’s office is currently considering whether Brown’s sentence was too lenient.
