Cold sets off heart attacks
HEART attacks increase “dramatically” when the temperature drops below 15C, a study has found.
Researchers also discovered temperature fluctuations and a stronger wind also heightened the risk.
Dr Po-Jui Wu, of Kaohsiung Hospital, Taiwan, said: “People at risk should be put on alert for symptoms such as chest pain and shortness of breath.”
The study’s authors suggested the vulnerable should be sent warnings via their phones.
