Defoe’s birthday tribute to his tragic pal Bradley
JERMAIN Defoe has paid tribute to pal Bradley Lowery on what would have been his seventh birthday.
The former Sunderland striker, 35, befriended the lad as he fought neuroblastoma cancer. Bradley, a club mascot, died in July. Jermain tweeted yesterday: “I know you’re up there smiling down on us, especially your mum, dad and brother.
“I bet you’re throwing another memorable party. Happy birthday, SOUNDCHECK Ronnie’s twins in Dublin mate. We miss you and love you more than you’ll ever know.”
The star’s partner Rachel Calvert did a parachute jump with Bradley’s mum Gemma, of Blackhall Colliery, Co Durham, raising £6,000 for the Bradley Lowery Foundation. Gemma wrote on its Facebook page: “Happy 7th birthday to my beautiful angel. Waking up on Brad’s birthday without him here is horrendous.”
