Living wage 5

Daily Mirror - - NEWS -

Every week in this column, we celebrate five companies willing to pay the real Living Wage. This is a voluntary rate set by the independent Living Wage Foundation, which is higher than the Government’s ‘national living wage’. This week we particularly welcome five companies all from Scotland: Jerba Campervans in North Berwick, Watermiser watercoolers in Newmilns, Dundee Plant Company civil engineering, The Care Inspectorate in Dundee and O’Neil Gas Services in Ayrshire, East Kilbride and South Glasgow.

It took a petition set up by grieving relatives and pushed by Stormzy to get there, but twice this week Parliament was forced to debate the Grenfell fire.

One of the best things to emerge was the solidarity felt by Liverpool MPs Alison McGovern and Dan Carden, who have fought for years alongside Hillsborough families.

They are now calling for a Hillsborough Law to punish officials guilty of cover-ups and to give relatives more power.
