FIT people who carry on exercising for six years in middle age can cut the risk of heart failure by a third, researchers say.
Even those who start to do 150 minutes a week reduce problems by 23%, experts at Johns Hopkins University in the US found.
Dr Roberta Florido said: “We don’t have specifically effective drugs to prevent heart failure, so we need to identify and verify effective strategies for prevention.”
The experts said it was never too late to start.
