2 rail strikes hit Northern

STRIKES by Northern Rail staff will cause disruption during today and Saturday.

The 24-hour walkouts by the Rail, Maritime and Transport union are part of the long-running dispute about the axing of guards.

RMT general secretary Mick Cash said: “It is a battle to put public safety before private profit.”

Northern Rail advised passengers to leave extra time for their journeys.
