‘Rescuers rape Boko women’

THOUSANDS of women saved from Boko Haram were abused and even raped by their military rescuers, a report claims.

An Amnesty probe found “horrendous” treatment by Nigerian soldiers and security officials in exchange for food.

It also found the Nigerian military carried out systematic violence and abuse against the population, with thousands starved to death in camps since 2015.

Osai Ojigho, director of Amnesty International Nigeria, said: “It is shocking.”

Hundreds of British troops are helping to train local forces to fight Islamic State devotees Boko Haram. A spokesman said it was tackling issues.
