NHS last common bond
I was 13 when the NHS was founded by Clement Attlee’s post-war Labour government. Up to that time we stood in line when the doctor visited our village, standing outside in all weathers with a shilling in hand to pay, if we could afford it. The NHS is the Tories’ new battlefront of divide and rule.
In the 1980s, the trade unions were the glue holding society together before they were systematically destroyed by Thatcher’s policies. Today we have the same attack and erosion of the NHS by the back door which will lead inevitably to private health care and the dismantling of the last common bond we all share.
