PORSCHE IN HARMONY

-

Porsche has closed the order books for its entire range. Why would it do that?

Well, in September the new Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure comes into force. The WLTP replaces the current NEDC test and, unlike the latter, assesses vehicle emissions not in a lab but in the real world.

Porsche has built up stocks of its current cars that will satisfy demand while the firm prepares vehicles for the new test – a lengthy task, in some cases involving the fitting of new emissions reducing hardware.

It’s highly likely that other manufacturers will be doing the same. What all car makers will be trying to avoid is having stocks of pre-WLTP cars on their books after September.
