Corrie’s sex on the beach
Bitter blow as Rovers faces becoming trendy cocktail bar
CORONATION Street regulars will be choking on their bitter when a businessman tries to turn the Rovers Return into a cocktail bar.
In scenes filmed this week, brewery heir Henry Newton tells Gemma Winter he will buy the pub and make her landlady. And if the kebab shop worker gets her way, the Rovers could be serving sex on the beach cocktails.
A source said: “Henry and Gemma get together this summer. He tries to woo her, saying he’ll buy the pub and she can be landlady. When he says he wants it to be more sophisticated, she starts planning a cocktail menu.”
It is understood the plans are yet to take shape and the sale has not gone through, meaning a possible U-turn or that Henry’s bid to buy the pub may not work out. It comes after Henry, played by George Banks, and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) had a fling.
The story, one of the last under boss Kate Oates, departs from recent hardhitting plots. The source said: “Corrie is all about getting the balance right.”
