RICC: I WON’T BE PITS THIS TIME ROUND

F1 MONACO GRAND PRIX

-

DANIEL RICCIARDO believes he is owed a win at Monaco.

The Australian, who lives in Monte Carlo, looked set for victory in his Red Bull two years ago.

But a botched pit-stop opened the door to Lewis Hamilton and Ricciardo (above) said: “Yes, I do feel I am owed a win. But I have to earn it. It’s not going to happen without me putting the effort in. It’s not going to happen because it should have already.”

The street circuit suits Ricciardo’s Red Bull, but for championship leader Hamilton it is a question of damage limitation.

He was fourth last year and off the pace in Thursday’s practice sessions ahead of yesterday’s unique rest day. But Ricciardo said: “They are trying to take a little pressure off them and on to us. I’d love to have this feeling going into every race, that we genuinely believe we’ve a chance to win.”
