GOSDEN’S LAH OUT OF OAKS

- BY DAVID YATES

LAH TI DAR will miss the Oaks next Friday after the Epsom favourite was found to be suffering from a virus.

John Gosden trainee was Paddy Power’s 9-4 market leader after victories at Newbury and Newmarket under Frankie Dettori this season.

But Godolphin’s Wild Illusion (4-1) now heads the betting after Gosden reported Lah Ti Dar to be under the weather — and focused on a return to action in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot next month.

“It was a routine blood sample, but it was not to our satisfaction,” he said.

“Hopefully it will be the Ribblesdale at Ascot now.”

Lah Ti Dar’s dam Dar Re Mi missed the fillies’ Classic in 2008, and her sister So Mi Dar was a late scratching for owners Lord Andrew and Lady Madeleine Lloyd Webber in 2016.

“It’s incredible bad luck for the owners it being the Oaks again. The mother, her sister and now another one, but that is the way it goes,” added Gosden (above). Paddy Power’s Oaks betting: 4 Wild Illusion, 11-2 Magical, 8 Bye Bye Baby, Forever Together, Magic Wand, Sea Of Class, 9 Perfect Clarity, 10 bar.
