Jim’s still a hero at 96

-

THE fortitude of D-Day veteran Jim Booth stands in stark contrast to the lowlife who attacked him.

Joseph Isaacs was sentenced to 20 years in jail for hitting Mr Booth with a claw hammer.

Maybe he will use his time behind bars to reflect on his cowardly and senseless behaviour and how pathetic he looks in comparison with the dignity of his defenceless victim.

While Isaacs represents the worst of Britain, Mr Booth represents the best.

Despite being left for dead in a pool of blood, the 96-year-old played down the ordeal by saying worse things happen at sea. The war generation really are a different breed.

In an age of selfies and self-publicity, Mr Booth stands as an example to all of us.

Little wonder he is known by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “The Legend”.
