Amid all the grim news comes a shaft of light. Half Man Half Biscuit have a new album out. The geniuses who released songs such as I Left My Heart In Papworth General, and lyrics like “there is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a Biro”, have a new album called No-one Cares About Your Creative Hub So Get Your F***in’ Hedge Cut, and a song with the line “What made Colombia famous made a pr**k out of you”. My laughs don’t get much more out loud than that.
A Chilean who told Pope Francis he was gay, claims the pontiff replied: “It does not matter. God made you like this. God loves you like this.” Which is a slight change of tune from stated Catholic policy that homosexuality is “objectively disordered” and contradicts those right-wing American Christians who carry placards saying “God Hates Fags”.
If only the Pope would publically come out with his view by standing on The Vatican balcony holding a banner saying “God Loves Fags” this lapsed Catholic would seriously consider returning to the fold.
