Salah vows to make up for his Final injury agony by getting fit for World Cup battle

- FROM DAVID MADDOCK

MO SALAH is confident of making the World Cup despite the shoulder injury which wrecked his Champions League final.

The Liverpool star is facing a battle to be fit for the tournament in Russia, which starts on June 14. But last night he vowed he would fight to be ready to play for his country, Egypt.

In a defiant message on Twitter, he said: “It was a very tough night, but I am a

fighter. Despite the odds, I’m confident that I’ll be in Russia to make you all proud. Your love and support will give me the strength I need.”

Salah had scans on his return to Merseyside and medics from Egypt have assessed the results and are hopeful that he could return to training in two to three weeks.

The forward has damaged shoulder ligaments after a tangle with Real Madrid skipper Sergio Ramos, that enraged Reds fans.

Egypt’s medical team, who have assumed control of the player’s medical care, suggested last night there is a “sprain in the shoulder ligaments” which should respond to treatment.

Even with the optimistic timeline of the Egypt doctors, it will be touch and go for Salah to make his country’s opening group game of the tournament, against Uruguay on June 15.
