Karius ‘sorry’ after howlers cost team cup
LIVERPOOL goalie Loris Karius apologised for the two howlers that cost his team the Champions League trophy after they landed back in the UK yesterday.
Karius shielded his face as the squad disembarked at John Lennon Airport after the 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in Kiev.
He later tweeted: “Haven’t slept. I’m infinitely sorry to my teammates, for you fans, and for all the staff. I know I messed it up.”
A video emerged yesterday of manager Jurgen Klopp rousing fans’ spirits by chanting and dancing with them at 6am. They sang: “We saw the European Cup, Madrid had all the f***ing luck. We swear we’ll keep on being cool. And bring it back to Liverpool.”
