Shopper dies after driver, 86, runs her over in a car park
A WOMAN in her 60s has died after an 86-year-old man ran her over in a supermarket car park.
The driver was arrested for failing to provide a specimen of breath but later released under investigation.
The unnamed woman was taken to hospital but surgeons could not save her. A second pedestrian received minor injuries outside the Sainsbury’s.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed the two women were returning from shopping in Ruislip, West London, on Saturday lunchtime.
He added: “The first woman, aged 64, was taken to hospital with critical injuries. She died on Sunday morning.
“The second woman, in her 50s, was discharged with minor injuries.
“The driver, an 86-year-old man, stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their inquiries.”
A postmortem will be carried out to find exact cause of death and an inquest opened and adjourned later this week.
