M4 naughty step for child

TRAFFIC officers found a child wandering along the M4 after its parents left it on the hard shoulder as a makeshift “naughty step”.

Details of the dangerous incident near Bristol were released by Highways England to highlight the stupidity of pulling over on the motorway.

Other cases included a family stopping to cook food and to spend a penny.

Simon Jones, Highways England regional director, said: “Over 100 people are killed or injured on the hard shoulder every year.”
