‘Local honey cures hay fever’

Don’t believe it! Local honey is sometimes touted as a hay fever cure, the idea being that honey contains small amounts of pollen collected locally and will help build up your tolerance to it.

Allergy UK’s Amena Warner points out, however, that honey is made from flower pollen collected by bees and the vast majority of people who have hay fever actually suffer from grass pollen allergy – so it won’t be effective.
