Dad: Army at fault for lad’s death on test
A DAD has blamed the Army for his son’s death in an SAS test on a hot day.
Phillip Hoole said he no longer believes an undiagnosed heart condition – as stated at a military probe – killed his son Joshua.
It came as it emerged two soldiers in the case could be court martialled.
Cpl Hoole, 26, of Ecclefechan, near Lockerbie, collapsed at 8.52am on July 19, 2016, in the Brecon Beacons, South Wales.
An inquiry found it was probably 20C, the cut-off for exercises, by 8.40am.
The test began early due to heat concerns but Mr Hoole, 56, said: “It should not have been started.”
The MoD said: “The case has been referred to the independent Service Prosecuting Authority.”
