Hols isle hails hero doctors

-

TWO medical students were hailed for saving a gang shooting victim on a Caribbean island.

Matthew Carter, 22, of Newcastle, and Samuel Walland, 21, of Bournemouth, were in a St Lucia bar when they heard shots.

Sam said: “We thought, ‘OK, we’ve got to do something’,” so they ran to the target and used their shirts to stem his blood.

They then went with him to the hospital where they are interns.

At a ceremony the duo won commendations.
