‘Private aid to well-off’

PRIVATE schools are subsidisin­g well-off families, figures show.

They gave £398million in means-tested grants, but these were open to households with incomes up to £140,000, school census data revealed.

Non-means tested aid totalled £420million.

Labour’s Angela Rayner said Tory policy helped the “few at the expense of the many”.
