End of World for Bendtner

FORMER Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has been left out of Denmark’s 23-man World Cup squad because of a groin injury.

The 30-year-old (above) sustained the injury playing for Rosenborg in Norway before joining up with the national team a week ago.

He has trained separately to try and prove his fitness, but played no part in Denmark’s goalless draw with Sweden on Saturday.

Defender Andreas Bjelland has also been ruled out, and the Danes’ coach Age Hareide said: “We don’t believe they’ll be fit in time for the first game against Peru and we need fit players.”
