Dig deep for fruit and veg

-

SHOPPERS are being hit by hefty price hikes on fruit and veg.

Vegetable prices have risen 2% year on year on average for 360 products, analysts Brand View said.

Broccoli is up 14.3% at 51p and a kilo of carrots has risen 16.4% to £1.45. Prices for 52 fruit products are up 1% on average, with bananas up 5.9% to 77p.

Bad weather, a higher living wage, labour shortages and a weaker pound are being blamed, The Grocer magazine reported.
