22yrs on, £5.4m Lotto mum has had another premonition she’ll win
A LOTTERY winner who scooped £5.4million after her dead brother told her in a dream she would win has had another “premonition”.
Deana Sampson, 56, who yesterday returned to meet the postmistress who sold her the lucky ticket 22 years ago, said: “I know I will win it again.”
The glamorous grandmother went on: “I think it will be soon, within a year.
“I’ve had a premonition. My brother’s watching over me and so are my mum and dad now.” She was speaking as The National Lottery unveiled one of the new gold ticket machines it is placing at selected outlets around the UK.
At the Sheffield post office where she bought her winning ticket in 1996, Deana said she had needed her lucky break as life had been “a struggle”.
Her first husband, the “love of her life”, had died in a road accident and she also lost a baby at two months. Then disabled brother Glyn passed away weeks before she bought the winning ticket. But Glyn came back in the dream to tell Deana, who lived in a council house, she would strike it rich. Days later she bought the winning ticket after going to the post office to collect her child benefit. Reliving the moment her life changed, she hugged Balwinder Dhillon, 59, who sold the ticket and still runs Stradbroke Post Office.
Balwinder said: “We were so excited when she won. She was one of my favourite customers, chatty and lovely.
“She’d come in with her kids for her benefits. Sometimes I’d run after her when we forgot to give her milk tokens.”
Deana, who now runs a property business, left her “lucky handprint” at the post office for other lotto players to rub.
