LESBIAN, gay and trans fans heading to Russia for the World Cup are being advised not to “publicly show your sexuality”, for fear of state repercussions.
Just to be clear, this warning against hugging or kissing other people in a major European country is being sent out before the 2018 World Cup – not the 1938 one. Which makes you wonder why anyone agreed to it in the first place.
Or, as ex-Everton keeper Neville Southall so eloquently put it, “Why would you put the World Cup in a country where human rights are sh*t and homophobia is horrendous? England should send the LGBT team to represent them. F*** Putin (above). Here’s our gay team. What are you going to do now?” Spot on.
