BLAISE OF GLORY WILL SUIT DIDIER
DIDIER DESCHAMPS is ready to ring the changes in his France team when they tackle Peru’s awkward squad tomorrow afternoon.
Coach Deschamps is considering the benefits of starting with Juventus powerhouse Blaise Matuidi, who can be an imposing presence in the engine room.
Matuidi (below) replaced Corentin Tolisso in the 2-1 win over Australia, bringing steel to the midfield instantly.
The French have had mixed results against South American nations. And Peru full-back Miguel Trauco warned: “I don’t think France like to play against nations like us.
“With our style, our way to hold the ball, I think we can cause them trouble.”
France defender Raphael Varane said: “We know Peru will put a lot of intensity into everything they do. We must be aggressive and solid.”
