Meg’s odds on winner

-

THE going was good for Meghan Markle on her first outing at Royal Ascot yesterday.

The Duchess of Sussex was the crowds’ hot favourite – leading the field in an elegant white Givenchy shirt dress and heels.

Rapturous applause greeted Meghan, 36, as she arrived in the royal carriage next to Prince Harry, 33, and Edward and Sophie, the Earl and Countess of Wessex. She later presented racing legend Frankie Dettori with a cup for winning the St James’s Palace Stakes on Without Parole.

But Harry looked less than impressed when the cheeky Italian, 47, kissed Meghan’s hand.

The jockey was later suspended for over-use of the whip.

The Queen and Sir Cliff Richard were also at the first of five days of Ascot but there was no doubt who won the popularity stakes.

With her remarkable Philip Treacy hat, Meghan was always going to take it by a head.
