ROSS Kemp popped in for a cuppa with his “second mum” Barbara Windsor and ended up staying for five.

Dame Barbara, 80, may have Alzheimer’s but she was as bubbly and full of fun as ever with Ross, who was her son in EastEnders. Ross, 53, said: “I saw her on Monday. I went for a cup of tea and I was there for threeand-a-half hours. I had five cups of tea, three shortbread biscuits – which I’m not supposed to have on my diet – and I laughed a lot.

“She has got this great ability. When she walks through that front door, she’s on. It was like seeing my second mum.”

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Ross, who played Grant Mitchell in the BBC1 soap, praised Dame Barbara and her husband Scott Mitchell, 55, for going public about her Alzheimer’s last month. He said: “I think she and Scott have been very brave putting it out there. Hopefully it will help people with the same condition be more open about it. “What she has done is very brave. She’s got a great husband in Scott, who has been very supportive.”
