Give James a big hand

-

THE LATE LATE SHOW UK SPECIAL SKY One, 10pm JAMES Corden may have made the big time in America, but for one week only he has graced his home country with specials of his hit US talk show.

The shows, from Central Hall, Westminster, in the heart of London, have been broadcast all week to more than 150 countries around the world.

Yes, it has been a meteoric rise to superstardom for the young lad we all knew as Smithy in sitcom Gavin & Stacey. Along with his house band, headed up by Reggie Watts, Corden has brought his unique brand of humour, wit and love of musical theatre back to Britain.

He always attracts A-list guests too. So far this week he’s welcomed Hollywood stars Cate Blanchett and Orlando Bloom, One Direction’s Niall Horan, actor Damian Lewis, Star Wars’ JJ Abrams, Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner and The Affair actress Ruth Wilson.

We’ve also seen some hilarious instalments of the show’s signature segments, Crosswalk the Musical (which really should be called Zebra Crossing the Musical) and Take A Break.

But tonight’s final episode promises to be the best yet – not only will the Foo Fighters perform, but there is also the segment that Corden has been shamelessly teasing all week.

“It’s my favourite Carpool Karaoke to date,” he says as he welcomes the best-selling artist of all time, Sir Paul McCartney.

Cut to Corden on the phone to Sir Paul asking: “Hey mate, I’m in Liverpool and I’m wondering if you can help. I need somebody, not just anybody. Can you please, please help me?” Fortunately, Sir Paul obliges.
