Labour PM’s labour of love

-

NEW Zealand’s Labour premier Jacinda Ardern and her partner Clarke Gayford beam as they cuddle their newborn baby girl.

Posting a heartwarming snap on Instagram, Jacinda, 37, and TV fishing show host Clarke, 40, welcomed their first child “to our village”.

Jacinda wrote: “Feeling very lucky to have a healthy girl that arrived at 4.45pm weighing 3.31kg (7.3lb) All doing really well thanks to the wonderful team at Auckland City Hospital.”

The PM will take six weeks’ leave, passing her duties to deputy Winston Peters. In 1990 Pakistan’s Benazir Bhutto became the first world leader to give birth in office.
